IMG_5445This website is established to help support Cody Hatch in his fight against cancer. Your donations are gratefully accepted through this site.

On Wednesday April 23, 2014, Cody was practicing basketball with his team when he and one of his best friends collided. Cody was hit in the stomach which caused some internal bleeding. Cody immediately felt great pain, turned pail, was faint, and his vision went dark. He was taken to the emergency room where an ultrasound was done. They did not see anything in the ultrasound but fortunately decided to do a CAT scan as an extra precaution. The CAT scan showed a mass in Cody’s abdominal area. Cody was sent to Phoenix Children’s Hospital by ambulance.

The next day the trauma surgeon came in and let us know that the team of doctors had determined that the mass was hard and not soft. It was a tumor and we needed to do a PET scan the following day. The PET scan was performed and we waited for results which came the following day. The doctors found 7 masses.

By Wednesday afternoon we had the results of the biopsy: Metastatic Paraganglioma. Paraganglioma is an extremely rare cancer that our oncologist had never seen before in his many years at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. 1 in millions are diagnosed with paraganglioma and only 3% of those are malignant. Because it is so rare, there is not a treatment plan for it yet.

Cody is in good hands however, and in even better spirits. Please donate now through this official non profit foundation and help support Cody and his family. 100% of all donations will go directly to the medical expenses of Cody.

I am so sorry that this has happened to such a great family. You have been so generous to me in the past and I would like to donate something for your handsome son. I do not have pay pal. Is there a fund set up in a bank?
    Sincerely

  4. Cody, get well soon, sending prayers for a miraculous healing and recovery.

I am a friend of your Uncle Brent & Aunt Pylicia’s, they are such wonderful people. God Bless!

  5. We will be praying for full recovery for you. Stay strong. You are not alone in there, we are there with you. There is a scripture in the Bible that we go by all the time. It is chapter 19 found in the book Psalm. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his hanywork.
    2) Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
    3) There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
4)Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
    5) Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
    6) His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
    7) The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
    8) The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
    9) The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
    10) More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
    11) Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
    12) Who can understand his errors? cleans thou me from secret faults.
    13) Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
    14) Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

  6. Cody, our daughter Madyson goes to school with you and we are also friends with some of your Aunts and Uncles. When Maddy came home and told about you we as a family started including you in ohr family prayers and have since and will continue to keep you and your family in our daily prayers. You have a community of people behind you and I know the Lord is with you. May you have strength and comfort and feel all the love. From friends you haven’t met. :) Hugs

    1. I haven’t had a chance to read this to Cody yet, but I still wanted to thank you as he may not be able to respond today. It’s been a miracle in itself watching this community support our family. Thank you for praying for him. Your prayers are part of the reason all of these miracles are happening and I just can’t thank you enough!
      Crista Hatch

  7. Wishing Cody and his family all the best with Cody’s fight against cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this struggle as a family.
